Victor is a senior in high school and vice president of his student body council. He dreams of attending UCLA and becoming a pediatrician. He is also in foster care after fleeing horrific violence in El Salvador with his little brother.
Since his sophomore year, Victor has had guidance and support from Adam Escoto, his Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). As a former high school principal and long-time Morgan Hill resident, Adam has helped Victor adjust to a new school and has been a good resource for Victor as he builds a new life.
"Anything I need help with, he knows someone for that," Victor remarks.
This year, Adam inspired Victor to start a Latin Club at his high school to help other students from Central and South America feel connected. After seeing Victor’s leadership on campus, members of the Associated Student Body asked him to run for vice president. He did and was elected to office. During the summer, Victor attended Student Council meetings to help his classmates plan activities for the new school year.
"I'm in charge of welcoming new students, speakers, and visitors,” Victor says proudly.
While Victor is busy with school, sports, and applying to colleges, he finds comfort in knowing Adam and his social worker are speaking to the judge on his behalf during dependency hearings.
Declares Victor: "They're good at representing me."
